5 DECORATING TIPS FOR SMALL SPACES

Our job is to find a house or flat for you and your family, but what we’re really passionate about is making that house feel like a home. And this is where interior design plays a vital role. In this article, we’re going to share 5 decorating tips on how to create a sense of spaciousness in a small living space.

Do you know how to make the most of a small space?

  1. Light and soft colours should predominate
Use light colours on walls, furniture, and curtains. Light-coloured spaces create a feeling of greater spaciousness, brightness, and freshness.

  2. Avoid cluttering spaces
Less is more. Avoid wallpaper with large patterns, walls crammed with pictures, or wide wall lights. Keeping things simple helps the space feel open and calm.

  3. Mirrors are key
Mirrors create a greater sense of depth and brightness. A mirror strategically hung on one of the walls of a small hallway will make it seem more spacious. When choosing a mirror, ensure the frame is as narrow as possible to maximize the effect.

  4. Create visual lightness with furniture
Glass furniture, such as a round dining table, gives a greater sense of space. Avoid large, bulky furniture. Instead, opt for tall, narrow pieces that create the impression of greater height. If possible, keep them empty or with minimal decoration.

  5. Pay attention to lighting
Make the most of natural light by avoiding items in front of windows that block it, such as blackout, patterned, or dark curtains. For artificial lighting, use multiple light sources to ensure the area is well lit; the brighter the lighting, the greater the sense of space. Lamps should not be pendant lights that protrude too far from the wall.
